THE residence of the Alcock family, 10724 S. Seeley Ave., is another attractive home, in an attractive section.
The Alcocks, who formerly resided in Hyde Park, have only lived in their Seeley Ave. home since last May, but in that short time they have learned to love the Ridge District and all of them state that it is a wonderful place to live.
One of the most attractive features of the Alcock home is the shrubbery, which was arranged by the Marson Nursery Co. The lawn is exceptionally nice and the bushes and shrubs are arranged very artistically.
An entrance hall leads from the front porch, which is on the north end of the house, to another hallway which gives access to the living room on the south and a reading room on the north.
The living room, which has a southern exposure, is unusually large and has a big sun parlor on the front facing the street. The dining room, which is very light and cheerful, is separated from the living room by French doors.
There are two ways of getting to the kitchen from the dining room, one through a hallway which leads to the side entrance of the house, and the other a little hallway, in which there is a butler’s pantry, which leads direct. A large bay window at the south end of the dining room, in which there is a window seat, lends attractiveness and coziness to the room.
A light, large breakfast room is at the rear and overlooks a wonderful back yard.
On the second floor there are four bedrooms, each of which has a lavatory. There are also two sleeping porches on the second floor.
The basement is large and roomy and has a fruit and coal cellar.
There is a modern garage in the rear with a driveway running along the side of the house from Seeley Ave.
